Sri Sathya Sai: A Mission of Selfless Love and Divine Transformation towards Oneness

The First All-American Conference on the Centenary of Sri Sathya Sai's Advent, Dallas, Texas, July 11-13, 2025

Introduction to the National Conference and Children's Festival

For the first time in the USA, members of the Sathya Sai Organization organized a national conference and children's festival, held from July 11-13, 2025, for all devotees and individuals interested in the message of Sri Sathya Sai Baba. This conference launched the official celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the Divine Avatar's descent to Earth. The theme of the celebration for adults was "Sri Sathya Sai: A Mission of Selfless Love and Divine Transformation towards Oneness," while the children's theme was "Messengers of Love and Light."

Venue and Atmosphere at the Hyatt Regency DFW

The festivities took place at the very large Hyatt Regency DFW hotel, located on the vast grounds of the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport in Texas. Most of the hotel rooms were occupied by Sai devotees arriving from all 50 American states, with over 700 people attending the conference. The conference rooms, halls, and other facilities located below the ground floor were designated exclusively for participant meetings. Separate, spacious rooms were provided for children and young adults.

The Enchanted Brindavan Garden for Children

The children's conference room was particularly enchanting. It resembled a paradise garden or the Brindavan gardens of Krishna's time. Large posters depicting a forest with various friendly animals hung on the side walls, and the columns between the posters were decorated with various flowers and plush animals. An altar was set up against the front wall, with two life-sized peacocks placed before it. In the long hallway, 15 tables were set up (one for each of the ten regions of the Sathya Sai Organization and five for the Organization's wings) with large television screens used to present the achievements of each region and wing.

Commemorating Guru Purnima with Dr. Suresh Govind

On July 10, the day before the conference officially began, all present participants gathered in the children's hall to celebrate the festival of Guru Purnima. Bhajans (devotional songs praising God) were sung, followed by a speech by the invited guest, Dr. Suresh Govind from Malaysia, a member of the Board of the Sathya Sai Baba Organization appointed to this position by Baba.

Opening Ceremony and the Parade of States

On the first day of the conference, a solemn ceremony was held to place the flags of every US state in large vases on the sides of the altar. Two members of the Young Adults wing of the Sai Organization read out, in alphabetical order, the names of the states and the values that each brings to America. During this time, girls and boys alternately approached the altar with the flags of each state, which were then placed in vases to the right or left of the altar. After this presentation, the US national anthem was sung while everyone stood. Subsequently, Sai Baba's teachings regarding the lamp-lighting ceremony were presented, and the master of ceremonies invited Sai Organization officials to light the lamp.

Addresses by Dr. Narendranath Reddy and Distinguished Guests

During the morning session, Dr. Narendranath Reddy—Chairman of the Sri Sathya Sai International Organization, appointed by Sathya Sai Baba—delivered a speech. Many invited guests who were not Sai devotees also attended the celebrations. These included the Mayor of the nearby city of Irving, the Mayor of Richardson, a representative of the Board of the Nurses Association, a board member of the "Texas Tribune" magazine, the director of the "Global Impact Initiative," and Jonathan Gonzales from a free medical clinic in California.

Proclamation by the City of Richardson

The Mayor of the city of Richardson, Amir Omar, honored the 100-year legacy of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba and the numerous achievements of the Sri Sathya Sai International Organization founded by Bhagawan. The Proclamation declared:

"Whereas, the City of Richardson appreciates and pays tribute to extraordinary personalities whose lives and legacy have uplifted humanity and inspired generations with their vision, values, and compassionate action. We gather with deep respect to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the advent of Lord Sri Sathya Sai Baba, a revered spiritual leader, universal teacher, and humanist whose life and work have had a profound impact on millions of people worldwide."  (City of Richardson, TX, Honors Sri Sathya Sai Baba | Sri Sathya Sai International Organization - USA)

The proclamation highlighted the ideals of Love, Truth, Peace, Right Conduct, and Non-violence, as well as the global humanitarian efforts of the SSSIO in 110 countries. Mayor Amir Omar officially declared the 100th anniversary of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba's advent as a time of reflection, gratitude, and celebration.

Participation of Local Officials and Global Greetings

Other officials present at the conference inauguration included Rick Stopfer (Mayor of Irving), Mark Cronenwett (Irving City Councilman), and Ken Hutchenrider (Deputy Mayor of Richardson). US Congressman Suhas Subramanyam from Virginia sent greetings via a video message. Following the speeches, an exhibition was opened showcasing the achievements of the ten regions and five wings of the Organization.

Personal Mission and Conclusion

My husband and I participated in this conference, but our focus was mainly on distributing stickers featuring Sai Baba’s quotes for car bumpers or windows. In total, we distributed about 300 stickers, explaining how to apply them. Throughout the conference, one could feel joy and love among all participants, making it a unique experience. Delicious meals were prepared for us, including Mediterranean-inspired dishes and various flavors of tiramisu. One booth even invited us to the upcoming world conference at Sai Prema Nilayam in California, showing a clip of the Sarva Dharma Choir from Europe.
